The Brasshouse - history of the build

The Birmingham Brasshouse was built in 1781, it was later altered around 1870. Built of brick with stucco dressings. It was built for the Birmingham Metal Company alongside the Birmingham Canal Navigations Mainline. It was a major brass making centre. Metal was transported from Bristol via the River Severn and onto the canal network to Birmingham. By 1835 it was used as a warehouse. By 1874 as water company offices. It is now a public house. Since the building of Brindleyplace in the 1990s, it has also been the Celebrity Indian Restaurant. It is near the gateway to Brindleyplace at The Water's Edge.
