In brief

The Pressworks, 34-44 Northwood Street, is a 3-4 storey residential scheme comprising 48 one, two-bed apartments & duplex mews houses.

A 3-storey, Grade II listed building occupies the underutilised site with a range of unlisted extensions to its side and rear.

The listed building will be retained and converted into three new homes; alongside boundary walls & another unit to the site’s rear – set to be converted into a duplex mews house.

All unlisted extensions will be demolished and replaced with modern new builds, containing projecting balconies & 44 one & two-bedroom units – these will be elegantly set around a landscaped courtyard.

Known as ‘The Pressworks’ because the historic site still has its existing press machine; this will be sympathetically retained and restored to accommodate apartments; with the press machine becoming a focal point within the site’s forecourt.

7% of the scheme is ‘affordable’ and is being made available for low-cost home ownership. Upwards of 50 bicycles will also be provided within the site’s landscaped courtyard.
