Longbridge Parish Church, also called St John the Baptist Church is a short distance away from Longbridge Town Centre, on what from 1905 to 2005 was the Longbridge Car Plant (Austin, MG Rover etc).

The parish was created from St Nicolas' Church, Kings Norton in 1957.

The architects was Bromilow, While and Smeaton, the church was designed by G H White of that firm.

The foundation stone was laid on Monday 25th June 1956 by Alderman A Lummis Gibson JP in the presence of Leonard Wilson, Bishop of Birmingham (from 1953 to 1969).

Roadworks on Longbridge Lane and Turves Green between 2018 and 2019 resulted in the removal of the wooden fence and hedges, and a raised concrete wall with safety barrier, the road was also widened at the time as well as new pavement tarmaced surfaces.
